Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health issues in the U.S., every year affecting 40 million adults age 18 and older, or 18.1% of the population. Clients who struggle with anxiety are often unable to identify and articulate the reasons for their anxiety. They are often unaware of the internal monologue that is taking place within their minds. As a result, it is important to help them slow down their thoughts and assist them in processing the thoughts that arise. Without the ability to slow down, they will not see how their moods are dramatically affected by their unprocessed, and often, irrational thoughts. This month's tool will provide a few steps that you can employ to help your client become more self-aware of the causes of their anxiety.
