Angela Adour, M.A.

Angela earned her MA in Counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary and a certificate in Trauma and Crisis Intervention from Rutgers University. She first began to counsel by counseling pastorally, within the local church nearly two decades ago. She has extensive experience working with survivors of various types of traumatic experiences, as well as those processing ministry burnout and church hurt, and with women who've experienced pregnancy loss, divorce, separation, infidelity, and various relational challenges.
Drawing on two decades of ministry experience, Angela enjoys taking a Christ-centered approach with clients in helping others process how the hope of the Gospel intersects with their own story. She has lived and ministered in NYC for 15 years, residing in East Harlem where she co-planted a neighborhood church, alongside her husband. There, she serves the church as the pastoral care director, oversees pastoral counseling, and takes a hands-on approach with mercy and justice ministry in the community.

Caryn holds a Master of Science Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Queens College, is trained in DBT therapy and is a former director for Mending the Soul, a non-profit dedicated to helping victims heal from trauma. Having extensive pastoral ministry and management experience, she empowers clients through a holistic and integrative approach and works primarily with those who are struggling with childhood or religious trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, and interpersonal conflict. Caryn is passionate about walking alongside her clients through all of life’s challenges and believes that each client is unique, possessing thoughts and feelings that deserve to be heard. Caryn enjoys spending time with family and friends, having fun and meaningful conversation over a good meal. She also loves walking on the beach, restoring vintage furniture, and anything chocolate.

Rebecca received her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the Alliance Graduate School of Counseling at Alliance University. A church planter and pastor’s wife since 1990, she has many years of experience counseling, teaching and living in the urban church context. Rebecca is an adjunct lecturer at Alliance University's NYC campus.
She loves working with couples and has received the most advanced training in Gottman Couple Therapy, is a certified Prepare Enrich (premarital counseling) facilitator and works with individuals and couples on issues of depression, grief, anxiety, communication and relational conflict. She has a special passion for working with people in ministry on issues of ministry burnout, compassion fatigue and boundaries. Rebecca is a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. She’s a native New Yorker who loves to cook, read and explore the food, arts and endless cultural opportunities in her city but also enjoys camping, canoeing or escaping to the beach with her husband.

Rosalin Brueck completed her undergraduate studies in political science at Dartmouth College and Fordham University. She received her MA in mental health counseling from Alliance Graduate School of Counseling and is licensed in NY & NJ. Rosalin works collaboratively with individuals, addressing a variety of issues including anxiety, relationship problems, trauma, spiritual formation, eating disorders, mood disorders, and provides coaching for gifted/talented adults. She is certified in Intuitive Eating and in Eating Disorder Intuitive Therapy. Currently, she is pursuing training in Internal Family Systems and certification as an Eating Disorders Specialist.
Rosalin is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals. Rosalin and her husband live in Long Beach, NY and attend CenterPoint Church. She enjoys surfing, snowboarding, volunteering, reading, and writing.
Ashley Buechele, M.A.

Ashley Buechele completed her undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University, and she holds a master’s in biblical counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary. She received additional training in counseling through an internship at the Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation in suburban Philadelphia. Prior to becoming a counselor, Ashley worked on Wall Street, specifically in private equity and real estate finance.
Ashley works with individuals, couples and adolescents. She counsels in areas including abuse, trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, boundaries and relationships. Ashley has led support groups focused on addictions and boundaries, has taught the class “How People Change” and has led parent care workshops.
Ashley is married to Greg, and they have four children. Ashley enjoys travel, good food, and exploring new neighborhoods of New York City.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist, he counsels individuals, couples and families dealing with conflict resolution, relationship difficulties, and issues stemming from one's family of origin. He is passionate about journeying with people as they seek healing.
Josue has served as an Assistant Pastor and has been active within the Christian & Missionary Alliance for the past decade. Long term, Josue would like to establish a ministry that shepherds and supports pastors, missionaries and their families. He enjoys spending time with friends, family, exploring new places, and trying new foods!

Jenny Chang holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University. She has worked as a social worker in child welfare before becoming involved in full time ministry. Jenny has over seventeen years of experience in counseling, leadership training and program development in the church mercy ministry context. From both her professional and personal life experience, she recognizes faith and spirituality to be a source of healing, and has a special interest in thought patterns, attachment patterns and interpersonal dynamics. Jenny has been a member of Redeemer since 2003 and enjoys immersing herself in New York City's cultural landscape, gardening and swimming.
Kaitlin Cheung, LMHC

Kaitlin received her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Alliance Graduate School of Counseling. She is a trilingual (English, Cantonese, and Mandarin) Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of New York, and has experience working with individuals of all ages. Kaitlin works with individuals struggling with depression and anxiety, and has a heart for walking with individuals through trauma, grief, life transitions, and other life stressors. Kaitlin is trained in Brainspotting (BSP), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Level 1 Gottman-Method Couples Counseling, and is a Certified Prepare/Enrich Facilitator.
She attends Oversea Chinese Mission in Chinatown, Manhattan. During her free time, Kaitlin enjoys running half-marathons with her husband John, spending time with her family, reading books, hiking, and picking seashells.

Hilary completed post-graduate training through the Trauma Studies Center at the Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapy. She is passionate about helping others in all stages of life as they face conflict within themselves and with others (even God!). Hilary resides in New Jersey and her hobbies include wheel-throwing pottery, flower arranging and trying new recipes in her spare time.
Victoria Chiu, LMHC

Victoria Chiu completed her masters in Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. She is an EMDR-certified and Attachment-based Family Therapy (ABFT) informed therapist. She worked as a bilingual (Mandarin, Cantonese) play therapist treating young children and low-income families who had experienced grief, trauma, neglect, and attachment issues. She also provided mental health services in mainland China for expats, Third Culture kids, and local Chinese clients, along with supporting social service agencies, such as orphanages.
During her years of clinical experience, she has worked with children, adolescents, and adults, along with couples and families on a variety of issues like depression, anxiety, relational patterns, abuse, neglect, grief and transition. Along with her clinical work, Victoria is also working towards her doctorate in marriage and family therapy (MFT), specializing in children and adolescents, while conducting research on mental health and transnational families.

Tina Choi holds a master’s degree in social work from Columbia University. She also studied English literature at the University of Virginia. She has many years of experience supporting individuals affected by abuse and trauma. Tina is particularly interested in helping individuals experiencing relationship difficulties, family of origin issues, depression and anxiety. Tina is trained in crisis pregnancy and post-abortion counseling through the Called to Care model in the United Kingdom. She has also provided professional training in the areas of sexual assault and relationship violence.
Tina is a member of Redeemer and enjoys being part of a vibrant Christian community. Tina also enjoys running, traveling and spending time with her husband, daughter, and sonn.

Christine Chu holds a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Illinois State University, and a Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University. Christine has been practicing since 1997 in various settings, including community mental health agencies, addressing concerns with individuals and families. Christine has worked with presenting concerns including: depression, anxiety, mood disorders, relationship issues, and trauma. She has completed Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Intensive Team training in 2012, and has worked with individuals using DBT skills training in individual and group therapy.
Christine and her husband, Grant, attend a community church in Brooklyn. They enjoy hobbies fishing and spending time with their family and friends.

Raymond holds a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliance Graduate School of Counseling in Nyack, NY, where he was the recipient of the Clinical Skills Award. He completed a B.A. in Pastoral Counseling from Valley Forge Christian College. He is licensed in marriage and family therapy in the state of New York. Raymond works with individuals struggling with depression and anxiety, sexual addiction, identity issues, and infidelity. As a family counselor, he works with couples on conflict resolution and trust issues. He also enjoys working with children and teenagers. Raymond and his wife Heather have four young children, and they both are active members of their church in Hackensack, NJ, where he volunteers with the youth ministry. His hobbies include learning about theology, discussing films, watching and playing sports, and playing the saxophone.

Michael Duncanson is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Brooklyn College and a Master of Arts degree at New York University. For many years, he worked as a therapist in New York State psychiatric centers and private mental health agencies. He also worked for Westchester Department of Community Mental Health overseeing and implementing best practices in delivering mental health services. Prior to joining RCS, he was the Senior Director for Family Court Mental Health Services at NYC Health + Hospitals while maintaining a private counseling practice.
Throughout his career, he has received advanced training in CBT, Family Resolutions, and forensic psychology practices. Michael is dedicated to coming alongside individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, men’s issues, spiritual brokenness, and vocational issues. Michael and his wife Gina attend church in Westchester County and are actively engaged in various ministries. Kate holds a Master of Arts in Counseling from Denver Seminary, and a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Eastern University. She specializes in the areas of substance abuse and addictions, including behavioral addictions, anxiety, depression, dysfunctional family issues, grief, PTSD, adolescent issues and young adult (single or married) issues. Kate has additional training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Prepare/Enrich premarital counseling, and also is a spiritual director from The Vincentian Center for Spirituality and Work in Denver, Colorado. She is also a trained facilitator for “Walking the Mourners Path," a grief recovery program.
As an adjunct professor for Eastern University in Philadelphia, Kate taught the addictions course for their doctoral program in Marriage and Family Therapy. When not rooting for the Denver Broncos football team, Kate and her husband Mike, enjoy walking their dog, hiking, backpacking and traveling extensively.

Patricia holds an undergraduate degree from Columbia University in the City of New York and a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling from Colorado Christian University. She was first trained as a counselor under the direction of Dr. Larry Crabb and Dr. Dan Allender and was deeply influenced by Allender's seminal work, The Wounded Heart, where the trauma of abuse does not have to be the end of the story.
Patricia's hope as a "spiritual companion" is to help others find transformation, restoration, and healing through the redemptive power of understanding our own stories within God's story. One of her goals in working with individuals and couples is to help develop skills, tools, and courage for entering relationships and community more deeply and honestly.
Patricia's interest in relational dynamics is woven through her past career as a financial advisor and is a common thread in both her lay ministry roles and community activism. She was a member of the inaugural Race & Gospel cohort at Redeemer West Side and currently serves on the Racial Justice Advisory Committee. She has been a member at Redeemer since 1992 and leads a community group with her husband Kelly. They parent four children mostly on basketball courts around NYC. Patricia is deeply interested in mind-body connections, the healing power of physical movement and the possibilities of walk-talk therapy. She is also being trained to work with high school students as a college admissions counselor.

Jyothi James received her Master’s in Professional Counseling and is a licensed Mental Health Therapist. Jyothi has extensive experience working with survivors of trauma, using EMDR and experiential treatment to facilitate healing. Jyothi works with clients on an individual and group level. Jyothi is experienced in helping clients with anxiety, depression, history of abuse, trauma, life transitions, identity crisis, and sex offenders. She also facilitates group counseling at RCS on managing anxiety in a faith based way. She is passionate about walking with others to understand their story, and help them understand how that has impacted the way they see themselves, others, and even God. She and her husband have been in ministry together for the past 9 years. They recently planted the church, New Hope Church, in Harlem. They have three children and a labrador retriever.

Hannah holds a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the Alliance Graduate School of Counseling and a certification as a Prepare/Enrich Facilitator. With a rich systemic perspective, she collaboratively engages with individuals and couples to gain new perspectives and offer practical tools to help them beyond the therapeutic setting. This includes settling the battles between “he said, she said” and offering insight into what factors contribute to the presenting challenges. These can include lack of communication, low sex drive, infidelity, anxiety, depression, and grief. Hannah firmly believes what clients get out of therapy depends on the work they put into it. She is eager to partner with her clients to see lasting transformation. Outside of the therapeutic setting, Hannah is an avid member of her church, serving as deacon over the Youth ministry. Stephanie and her husband reside in Brooklyn, where they have a fondness for coffee, CrossFit, and finding good tacos (as she is originally from California).

Her specialties include anxiety, abuse, eating disorders, and marital and premarital counseling, and she is bilingual (Korean) and bicultural. Ellen is also a Trust-based Relational Intervention (TBRI) practitioner that specializes in issues of attachment and trauma. At Redeemer Counseling, Ellen oversees the professional and pastoral counselor training and workshops, including the Counseling Fellows Program. Ellen attends New Hope Fellowship with her husband and son. She enjoys traveling, good food, the arts, and spending time with friends and family.

Cindy holds a Masters of Business Administration from Columbia University and an undergraduate economics degree from Vassar College. Prior to joining Redeemer Counseling, Cindy worked in financial services for 15 years in a variety of roles including strategy and product management. Cindy and her husband Young have two wonderful boys and they attend Redeemer East Side. She enjoys walking in Central Park, reading Gospel-centered psychology books, and seeing art at the Met. She is currently pursuing a certificate to become a Spiritual Director, a part-time role that allows her to attune to others as they discern the presence of God in their daily lives.

Jennifer is a licensed social worker with a Master's degree in social work from NYU and an undergraduate degree in history from Princeton. Prior to becoming a counselor, Jennifer studied law in the United Kingdom and had an eighteen-year career in law and banking.
Jennifer has spent many years in ministry, including in West Africa, where she also pursued French and African studies at the University of Dakar, Senegal. Before coming to Redeemer Counseling Services, Jennifer worked at Avail NYC as Director of Avail’s Hope Program, which provides supportive counseling to women and men following abortion. Jennifer's practice addresses a range of issues, including PTSD, depression, grief and racial trauma.
In addition to her NYU clinical training, Jennifer is training at the Ackerman Institute for Family Therapy where she is a couples and family therapist. She has experience in individual, family and group work. Jennifer lives in Riverdale with her husband and two children.

She is passionate about collaborating with clients on their journey towards deep and lasting change that goes beyond symptom reduction. In the context of the safe and supportive counseling relationship, clients can experience healing and grow in their relationships with God and others. Laura uses an integrative counseling approach influenced by attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, and experiential therapy. Extensive international travel as well as refugee ministry experience have contributed to an appreciation for diverse cultural perspectives. Laura resides on the Upper East Side where she enjoys baking, good coffee, and exploring New York City with her family. She is an active member at Trinity Baptist Church where her husband serves as Lead Pastor.

In her professional school counselor role, she has many years of experience working with students in a competitive Specialized High School environment in New York City. Equipped with her ability to speak several Chinese dialects, she works relentlessly with diverse groups of students and families to provide preventive and restorative support. Vivien has additional training in Prepare/Enrich pre-marital and marital counseling. She has a deep passion for helping families build on their strengths and foster healthy parent-child attachments. As a pastor’s wife in NYC since 1992, she is enthusiastic about assisting pastoral families in thriving in ministry and practicing self-care. Shay-Lee Perez holds a graduate degree from Rosemead School of Psychology, Biola University and her undergraduate degree from Barnard College. She is a licensed bilingual (Spanish) Clinical Psychologist in New York State. As a clinical psychologist, she works with adults, adolescents, children and families who are seeking assistance with mental health wellness. Her specialties are in the areas of early childhood mental health, trauma, childhood developmental delays, parent-child relationship issues, adolescent issues, parenting, depression and anxiety. Along with that, she is a consultant to schools and churches in the New York City area, and is on staff at HealthySteps program at New York Presbyterian/CUMC. Shay-Lee and her husband Anthony have been married for over twenty years and have one young daughter. They have been faithful attenders of a Christian and Missionary Alliance church in Manhattan, NY, where they serve as directors of the Youth Ministry.

Megan completed a master’s degree in mental health counseling at the Alliance Graduate School of Counseling where she received the Excellence in Clinical Skills Award. Post-graduation, Megan completed training to become a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and training in disordered eating. She is currently completing her clinical hours toward her New York State Mental Health Counseling License.
Megan believes in forming a collaborative relationship to support clients in discovering their strengths and overcoming obstacles. She has experience counseling adult clients with depression, anxiety, relationship and familial issues, as well as survivors of abuse and other traumas. Megan previously provided applied behavioral analysis for children with autism spectrum disorders as a Registered Behavioral Technician.
She has lived in New York since 2005, but was born and raised in Nebraska. Megan currently serves as a song leader on the Worship Team at Redeemer West Side and has also served congregants as a member of the Diaconate. She enjoys all the arts, trying new restaurants, exploring different neighborhoods, meeting new people, hiking, running, swimming, paddle-boarding, and quality time with loved ones.

Sharon Richards holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from New York University, and has received training from the Ackerman Institute for the Family. She has also worked at the Silberman School of Social Work a Hunter College and The Kings County District Attorney’s Office. Sharon practices a gospel-centered integrative approach to counseling and utilizes several treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Narrative Therapy.
Sharon’s goal as a counselor is to encourage and empower people to remember, learn, live, and grow. She works primarily with individuals and families struggling with life transitions, grief, interpersonal conflicts, trauma, aggression, depression and anxiety.
Sharon is very active in her church, loves to travel and spend time with her large extended family. She is an avid reader and watcher of 90’s/2000’s TV, science fiction, and anything about the African diaspora and Caribbean. Sharon is also an ardent admirer of almost all things chocolate.

April Shatraw holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University and Bachelor of Science in Business from Wake Forest University. April works with individuals, couples, adolescents, and teenagers in areas including anxiety, depression, multicultural challenges, life transitions, career obstacles, boundaries, self-image, relationships and addictions. Prior to becoming a counselor, April worked on Wall Street in Investment Banking and then as a Human Resources executive, living in Hong Kong, London, and New York, doing organizational and leadership development. April is married to her husband Nick, is passionate about diversity and inclusion, and enjoys new travel, culinary, and cultural experiences.

Jabez Springer is a dedicated professional with over 30 years of experience in the areas of public health, counseling and business administration. He is particularly skilled in establishing and maintaining productive relationships with targeted populations and supporting stakeholders. He has experience in counseling adult clients with relationship and familial issues. He also specializes in marital and premarital counseling. His favorite part of being a counselor is helping to bring transformation to the lives of the people he encounters by teaching them how to manage the daily vicissitudes of life successfully.
Jabez is currently enrolled at Alliance University (NYACK College) where he is studying to be a Marriage and Family Therapist. He is also a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator.
Jabez has been married for over 40 years and has served as the pastor of Ebenezer Gospel Tabernacle in Harlem for over 25 years with the support of his wife and three adult children. In his leisure time, he enjoys biking, walking, playing Scrabble or table tennis. Most of all, he loves spending quality time with family and friends.
Natasha Steenkamp, LMHC

Natasha Steenkamp graduated with a Master of Arts in Counseling from Biblical Theological Seminary. She works with individual clients on a broad range of issues including depression, anxiety, shame, interpersonal struggles, sexual abuse and trauma.
Drawing from her personal journey of grief, following the tragic and sudden loss of her younger brother in 2011, Natasha specializes in helping clients who have suffered various losses. She facilitates grief workshops aimed at providing psycho-education and compassionate support. Natasha is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and uses Internal Family Systems (IFS) in her counseling work.
In addition to her passion for counseling, she also enjoys teaching at college level and holds a certification in Adult Education. She previously served as an adjunct faculty in the psychology and counseling program at Pillar College in New Jersey. Natasha and her husband, Henri, are active members of Grace Chapel in Bedminster, N.J. Natasha enjoys traveling, photography, painting, bird-watching and swimming. Originally from South Africa, Natasha is an enthusiastic rugby and cricket supporter.

Anita Sung completed her masters in clinical mental health counseling from Regent University, and also has a masters in Church History from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Her areas of counseling interest include anxiety, depression, relationship issues, childhood trauma, infertility, grief, and spiritual formation. Anita is drawn to an emotion-focused and person-centered approach to therapy. She is also interested in exploring the identity development and unique experiences of mixed race and culturally diverse individuals struggling to develop a coherent social and cultural identity. Anita also values each person's spiritual journey as a meaningful part of their story and is always open to processing people's experiences with a gospel-centered approach. She is also a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator. Anita and her husband live in the Upper East Side. They enjoy taking walks in the park, going to the beach and deep conversations. Along with that, Anita enjoys journaling, the literary arts, story-telling of all sorts and connecting with close friends.

Coen Thornton completed his bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Global Studies from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri, and his M.A. in Counseling from Kean University. Coen has experience working with individuals, adolescents and emerging adults both domestically and abroad with challenges such as anxiety, depression, self-image, conflict resolution, Post-traumatic Stress, and anger management. Coen also has experience working with youth at Vibrant Emotional Health in the Bronx, NY. Coen currently attends Church of the City with his wife and loves sports (most of all baseball), studying world history, traveling, camping, creative new ideas, and trying new foods and restaurants.

Charlene is retired from a 30-year career in equity institutional sales and investment management on Wall Street. She is an immigrant from Hong Kong and a single mother of two daughters and a rescue dog. She loves traveling, trying different restaurants, and classical music.

Torrie Williams, LCSW

Torrie Williams earned a Master’s degree in Social Work at Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Spanish at the University of Richmond. Torrie is a licensed psychotherapist who has experience working with individuals who are in crisis, having disruptions to their daily lives, and dealing with grief, loss, and illness. Torrie counsels people who are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and low self-esteem. Torrie uses elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in her practice.
Torrie lives in Manhattan with her husband and daughter, and attends Redeemer Presbyterian Church. In New York City, Torrie enjoys spending time in community in Central Park, trying out new restaurants, and going to the theater.

Ashley enjoys cooking, home design, and traveling, especially to visit family in Indonesia and California. She met her husband Steve at Redeemer and they currently reside in Brooklyn.
Tony Wong, LMSW

Tony is a graduate of the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. He also has a masters in Urban Missions through City Seminary/Westminster Theological Seminary. Tony brings over two decades of experience working with at-promise adolescent youth and young adults. He has worked in many diverse settings including shelters, medical facilities, schools and community based organizations offering short and long term counseling. Much of his prior counseling work has been with clients dealing with depression, managing anxiety and relationship difficulties. Tony is a native New Yorker and enjoys spending time with his wife and three children in the Lower East Side. On the weekends, he spends hours on the basketball court refining his jump shot.
